What type of product do I need?
Determining the best product for your project depends largely on where you will be using it and what the drainage or grade regulations are for your project. Determining the proper product is best done by consulting with a professional Landscape Architect, planner or designer. Yes we do! We carry an Organic Compost perfect balance of yard and food waste. No human or animal waste.
What is the difference between a Yard and a Ton?
A Ton is a measurement of WEIGHT. 1 ton=2,000 pounds, one "metric" or "long" ton=2,200 pounds. A Cubic Yard is a measurement of volume. Generally mulch and dirt are calculated in yards versus sand, gravel or stone which is calculated in tons.
How much material is a Cubic Yard?
One Cubic Yard is 3′ x 3′ x 3′ sqaure. It equals 27 cubic feet.

How much material is a Ton?

How much will I need?
Start by measuring off the area you need material for. The length in feet, then the width in feet and the depth in inches. Then just give us a call and we can assist you in determining how much material you may need for your project.

Coverage Rates and Product Weights
Below are some coverage rates and approximate weights to assist you in determining how much materail you may need for your project. Please note that these are approximate and will vary by product.
Dirt
1 Cubic Yard of dry Dirt is approximately 2,000 lbs. or one ton (this weight will increase significantly when product is wet).
1 Yard of Dirt will cover approximately 324 square feet at a 1 inch depth.
Mulch
1 Cubic Yard of dry Mulch can weigh between 600 to 800 lbs. or up to half a ton (Note: this weight will increase significantly when product is wet).
1 Yard of Mulch will cover approximately 100 square feet at a 3 inch depth.
Sand
1 Cubic Yard of Sand can weigh between 2,600 to 3,000 lbs. or up to one and a half tons approximately.
1 Ton of Sand will cover between 80 to 100 square feet at a 2 inch depth approximately.
Gravel
1 Cubic Yard of Gravel can weigh between 2,400 to 2,900 lbs. or up to one and a half tons approximately.
1 Ton of Gravel will cover between 80 to 120 square feet at a 2 inch depth approximately.
